Three districts claim 2009 Texas Higher Education Star Award

Three school districts received the 2009 Texas Higher Education Star Award. Presented by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the star awards recognize exceptional contributions toward closing the higher education gaps that challenge the state, as outlined in the Closing the Gaps Higher Education Plan.

The districts were honored for their innovative partnerships with institutions of higher education. The recipients include:

  • Dallas ISD and Texas Woman’s University
  • Mesquite ISD and Texas A&M University at Commerce
  • Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD and South Texas College

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board issued six star awards in all. Honorees were recognized at the board’s annual conference in Fort Worth.
